ARt Dachau - Augmented Reality 2024.3.1

ARt is the abbreviated name for the "Dachau Concentration Camp in Drawings and Paintings. Art Meets Augmented Reality" project. The term AR in ARt represents augmented reality, a technological innovation facilitating a connection between historical drawings and paintings centered around the Dachau Concentration Camp and the physical confines of the Memorial Site.

This app also features excerpts from graphic novels crafted by descendants of former prisoners and various artists. Supplemental audio clips offer insights into the depicted scenes, occasionally enriched by recollections from other survivors.

The guided tour through the app spans 22 visual representations within the Memorial Site premises, approximating an hour in duration.

For a tailored experience, users may opt to focus on specific images by scanning the QR codes on corresponding markers.

Incorporating interactive elements, this app, though not universally accessible, provides an inclusive avenue via the web page kz-gedenkstaette-dachau.de/art with detailed descriptions of the images through alternative texts.

To optimize the auditory experience, it is recommended to utilize headphones when listening to the audio clips.

Prior to your visit to the Memorial Site, we suggest downloading this app onto your smartphone or tablet. Noteworthy is that internet connectivity is not mandatory for app functionality.

A smartphone or tablet compatible with ARCore is necessary to operate this app seamlessly. Notably, this app is available free of charge.

ARt was collaboratively developed by the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site and ZAUBAR, a startup entity.
